HONOURING A LIFE

Transforming lives!

Our Story

Why the foundation?

The Dr. David PM Foundation was established in loving memory of Dr. David PM, whose selfless service touched countless lives. His compassion lives on through our mission to uplift the children and families suffering the effect of poverty — beginning in Kerio village, Turkana North, Kenya.

David left us too soon — before he could give even more of his kindness and intellect to the world. It is our hope that through this foundation, we shall extend his spirit beyond his lifetime.

David had just completed his PhD and was on the verge of being called Dr. David — a title he had worked so hard for and looked forward to with pride. Although he never got to use it in life, he was honoured posthumously during the graduation ceremony on 5th August 2022 at the University of Nottingham, where they have now placed a plaque on the 'MIR Biophotonics Laboratory' in his honour to the countless contribution he gave and is still being used to this day!

In his honour, we decided to preserve and popularise the title he earned — Dr. David, through this foundation that now bears his name.

Our Mission

To break the cycle of poverty by supporting education, well-being, and sustainable growth for children, families, and communities in need.

Our Vision

To transform lives through education, nurturing hope and opportunity for generations to come.

Our Objectives & Achievements

Although the foundation was originally founded with seven objectives, we are currently focusing on four core areas that best reflect our mission and capacity.

1. Support for Children Living in Poverty
To ease the effects of poverty among children and youth by providing essentials such as clothing, footwear, and other necessities.

Through this initiative, we have:

  • Provided school uniforms, shoes, and bags to 14 boys and 10 girls in primary school.

  • Supplied everyday clothing to 22 boys and 9 girls.

These small acts have restored dignity, improved confidence, and encouraged school attendance.

2. Access to Education
To prevent school dropouts by paying school boarding fees and supplying necessary learning materials required by the school.

To date (October 2025), we have supported 14 students — 10 girls and 4 boys.

  • 12 have received full educational support.

  •  2 have received partial assistance.

Two students have already completed Form Four, while 12 are still under our care.

We believe that through education, these young people can break the cycle of poverty and build better futures for themselves and their communities.

3. Support for Higher Education
We aim to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in need.

At present, we have supported one university student — a young woman studying Criminology. We assisted her with initial shopping, rent, and other needs while she awaited student loan funding.

Additionally, three students who have completed high school are awaiting university placement and may receive support once their details are confirmed.

4. Feeding Program
To address hunger, we began distributing dry cereals to families in need once a month - this is equivalent to £5 per month receiving 5kg maize and 5kg beans. All families in need register with our contact at the station to ensure that this provision is going to those who are truly in need.

Up to now,

  • 27 women each received 5 kg of maize and 5 kg of beans, twice.

The program made a tremendous difference, though it also showed us the immense need that exists. For now, we have paused it as we seek sustainable funding for future feeding initiatives. We hope to build this up with an aim to increase to monthly provision of non-perishable nutritional ingredients for the families to cook at home.

For transparency below is an estimation of monthly costs in Kenyan shillings for non-perishable food costs to those living outside the city. This has been converted to pounds(£) for your clarity.
